From an early age, Djuca embarked on a day of tireless work, starting with a salary of $1.60/hour upon arriving in the United States in 1969, while still at school age. Son of Cape Verdean parents, his life story and determination served as the foundation for his future career in the world of music.

Djuca's passion for the artistic scene began when he took Mino de Mama to Brava Island in 1974, a crucial moment that awakened in him a vocation for promoting artists. Together with his brother Tui, who had a dance space at Dante Club, they began organizing the first parties there, with Ivo and Josezinho, establishing an initial milestone in their career.

Over the years, Djuca WOW has brought a constellation of Cape Verdean music talents to American stages, including names such as Bana, Paulino Vieira, Tito Paris, Leonel Almeida, Cesaria Évora, Assol Garcia, Nho Nany, Breca and many others.
